Leyla Gencer, the last diva of 20th century, achieved worldwide fame as "La Diva Turca" with her perfect interpretations of numerous leading roles on the most prominent of opera stages and made a great contribution to the Donizetti Renaissance. Apart from her operatic career, Gencer also worked as an educator helping to train many young opera artists and served as the President of İstanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts' Board of Trustees. We respectfully commemorate this legendary soprano, on the first anniversary of her passing away.
